GBDC Partners Ghanaian Centre Of PEN International To Promote Reading And Writing In Upper West Region

A team comprising staff of GBDC (led by Daniel Ofosu-Asamoah, the Literacy Promotion Manager) and the Ghanaian Centre of PEN International (led by Mr. Frank Mackay Anim-Appiah, the Executive Director of the Ghanaian Centre of PEN International), visited some selected schools in the Region to interact with the students, exposed them to the importance of reading and also form Reading and Creative-writing Clubs to serve as a platform for honing the reading and writing skills of the students.

GBDC and the Office of the First Lady Organize Reading Roadshow

Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC) and the Office of the First Lady (OFL) have organised a Reading Roadshow in some districts in the Ashanti, Bono East and Bono Regions. This was the second phase of an exercise that was started in August 2019. Some of the beneficiary communities include Danyame and Amankwaatia in the Ashanti Region, Atebubu in the Bono East, and Sunyani East and West in the Bono Region. The event took off on Monday November 4, 2019 and ended Thursday November 7, 2019.

GBDC Provides Basic Schools with Book Booths stocked with Assorted Reading Books

Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC) has provided some Basic schools with book booths stocked with assorted reading books. The beneficiary schools included those which participated in the Council’s reading festivals as well as its year-long reading sessions in the Basic schools. The essence was to help them continue the reading exercise even as GBDC move to other districts or communities which are yet to benefit from the exercise.
