Dr. G.A. Agambila, an author, was the special guest for the Council's reading promotion at the Accra College of Education Demonstration School on 17th October 2023. The exercise forms part of the Council's effort to create a culture of reading among pupils in the Basic schools.
Ghana Reads Initiative commemorates the International Day of the Girl Child

As part of the celebration of Accra World Book Capital, 2023, the Ghana Reads Initiative commemorated the International Day of the Girl Child with a programme themed "Our Time is Now, Yes We Can Make it".
The book titled, "Wings for Legs" written by Naomi Adjei was read and discussed to empower the young girls.
The guest speakers for the programme were the Director, Girls Education Division, Ghana Education Service and Manye Naa Ameley Tesaa 1 of Teiko Tsuru We. The Chairperson for the occasion was the Executive Director of Ghana Book Development Council.

In the heart of Accra, Ghana, in the month of September 2023, the Ghana Association of Writers Book Festival (GAWBOFEST) began with the celebration of all things literary. This year was exceptional, as it coincided with the celebration of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023, title year. The festival to ran from September 19 to September 21, with three enchanting days of literary bliss.
