On July 23, 2024, the Ghana Book Development Council organised Reading-with-Author session at the Ghana Police Model Basic School to promote reading among pupils in the basic schools.

The session was held with Mr. Joel Borboyoe, author of the book "War Child” as the guest reader.

During the hour-long event, the pupils had the opportunity to meet Mr. Joel Borboyoe, and asked questions about what inspired him to write the book, "War Child," as well as his career as a writer. Mr. Borboyoe also read excerpts from his book and shared tips on how to write a book.

This initiative is part of the Council's efforts to encourage a culture of reading and writing among school children.
