AWBC,23: Worldreader partners Achievers Ghana to launch a “Zongo Read Project”

Worldreader, an NGO that provides digital reading solutions, has partnered Achievers Ghana, a community-based NGO, to launch a “Zongo Read Project”. The event which took place on June 2, 2023, at the Maamobi Gale Community Library, is part of Worldreader's activities geared toward celebrating the Accra World Book Capital, 2023. The event was attended by representatives of the Worldreader, the Achievers Ghana, the Accra World Book Capital Secretariat, parents and guardians, community leaders, school children and the media.

UNESCO-IBE visits the GBDC

On 24th May 2023, a 3-member delegation from the UNESCO International Bureau of Education (UNESCO-IBE) led by Ms. Simona Popa paid a courtesy call on Ms. Ernesticia Lartey Asuinura, the Executive Director of Ghana Book Development Council, to discuss opportunities for collaborations between the two institutions.

The discussions also centred on how both parties could collaborate to implement programmes of common interest as part of the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 celebration.

In attendance were representatives of UNESCO Ghana and Ghana Book Development Council.

Accra World Book Capital officially launch by President Nana Akufo-Addo

Accra formally took over as the 2023 World Book Capital of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from the Mexican city of Guadalajara on Monday 24 April, 2023.

Speaking at the launch of World Book Capital 2023 in Accra on Monday April 24, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged parents to inculcate the habit of reading among their wards.

UNESCO DG Arrives In Ghana To Open Accra World Book Capital

The Director-General of UNESCO Madam Audrey Azoulay is in Accra to join the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to open the Accra World Book Capital (AWBC) 2023.

UNESCO Director-General, Madam Audrey Azoulay and the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are hosting the grand opening of the Accra World Book Capital 2023 in Accra.

In addition, they will host an array of important international personalities at the ceremony.
