Publicity of Accra's designation as UNESCO World Book Capital, 2023 to the international community is ongoing at the Ghana stand (opportunity district) of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Accra and UNESCO have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Accra World Book Capital, 2023 programme. The MoU was signed by the Mayor of Accra, Mrs Elizabeth Naa Kwaatsoo Sackey, at a brief but impressive ceremony in Accra on 30 November 2021. UNESCO was represented by H.E Mr Abdourahamane Diallo, the Head of Office and Representative of UNESCO to Ghana.
An essay writing competition was held for some Senior High schools in Koforidua as part of the 2021 Regional Book fair which took place, from Thursday, 28th October 2021 to Saturday 30th October 2021. The essay writing competition was intended to improve creative writing among Senior High School (SHS) students in Koforidua and its environs. The participating schools were Pope John Senior High and Junior Seminary School, Pentecost Senior High School, New Juaben Senior High School, Koforidua Secondary /Technical school and Ghana Senior High School.
A Regional Book Fair has taken place in Koforidua in the Eastern Region. The event which was organized by the Ghana Book Development Council (GBDC), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana Library Authority (GhLA), the Ghana Publishers Association (GPA), was held at the GhLA Conference Room, from Thursday 28th October 2021 to Saturday 30th October 2021.
